In this Inception Review, I’ll tell you why you can wait until video for this movie or not see it at all.
I was initially excited about Inception because I like almost all of the actors in it. I enjoy nearly all of Leonardo DiCaprio movies. We also have Joseph Gordon-Levitt of 500 Days of Summer fame, and Ellen Page, who played Juno, one of my favorite movies. Continue Reading »

I just noticed that the Book of Eli is number one on the latest list of DVD Movies New Releases.
I saw this movie in the theaters when it came out and remember a discussion that ensued afterward: Is Eli blind in the movie? After visiting the Book of Eli IMDB page, I realize that many people have this question.
As Schwatime points out in the IMDB post called Why the Ending Should Make You Blind With Rage, there is multiple evidence to support both sides. This pissed her/him (what gender is the name Schwatime?) off to the point where he/she concludes “This is a crappy film made by lazy filmmakers.” Continue Reading »

Last night, I watched the movie Funny People with Adam Sandler and many other great young comedians.
20 years ago, you knew what to expect with an Adam Sandler movie; now you don’t. I like that.
20 years ago, all was simply slapstick and often very funny. Now, we still get slapstick but with serious, and sometimes slightly demented, undertones. It is often said that great comedians and great comedy comes from the darkest of places where the only means of survival is through comedy. In the recent career of Adam Sandler, he seems more comfortable exposing some of those dark places.
The seriousness in Funny People occurs immediately as the character of Adam Sandler, a famous comedian named George Simmons, is diagnosed with a deadly form of leukemia. With this diagnosis, George suddenly realizes how pitifully lonely his rich life is. Continue Reading »

Since I am a huge movie fan, I have compiled this page called DVD Movies New Releases for everyone who wants to have immediate access to a list of new DVD releases.
The list of popular new DVD releases below was put together for you today, Thursday September 02, 2010. I do this automatically with a little bit of technical ingenuity
The picture you see to your left is the top DVD rental at this very moment!
Below, you will find the movie or television DVD release ranking, movie box cover, movie stats, latest movie review, and the overall rating given to the movie.
My favorite part is the new DVD release movie reviews. It’s always amazing to me the different perspectives people have: one person will hate it and another will love. This diversity is what makes the reviews so interesting. Since these reviews are automated, you can sometimes reload the page and see an entirely different review. Pretty cool, huh?

At the end of my viewing of Avatar, the audience all clapped. They clapped because the human race fell to a society of extraterrestrials.
Why is this? Are humans beings discontent with the world they inhabit, with themselves?

With the Roku HD Player, you never need to visit Blockbuster again. This Roku HD Player allows you to download movies via Netflix or Amazon on Demand and begin watching them right away.
I prefer ideas to products and that is why I do not do many product reviews. However, this product is such a cool idea that I wanted to talk quickly about it.
I was reviewing this list of the Best Christmas Gifts as the Holiday time is approaching and one product really caught my eye: this Roku HD Player.
I had never heard of it: Have you? Continue Reading »

Last week, I sat through the Michael Jackson movie This Is It and it was one of those rare movies that made me want to…walk out.
This Is It basically contains footage of the concert that never was, the concert that was to begin shortly after his sudden death this summer.
In Reaction to Michael Jackson’s Death, I wrote about the untimely death of Michael Jackson and the ambivalent feelings I had.
I was interested in seeing This Is It to learn more about the man, to see if it provided a better understanding of Michael as a person. The movie promised an inside look at Michael featuring “rare behind-the-scenes footage of the King of Pop” like we have never seen. Continue Reading »

A marginal movie can become a really good movie if you enjoy the topic.
This was the case when I watched He’s Just Not That Into You. I thoroughly enjoyed the movie because the topic is compelling: Do women realize when a guy is just not into them? The movie is more than that as well…it’s about relationships between men and women. Continue Reading »

Gran Torino is the best movie that I have seen this year. And though the year is only 24 days old, I am not sure another movie will come along this year to best it.
I wonder why.
The plot can be explained in a few of sentences: A recently widowed, hard-nosed, prejudice, ex-military, solitary, old man finds himself newly alone in a poorish neighborhood now filled with ethics and gang violence. Though he tries to remain isolated on his premises, circumstance and proximity lead him to interactions with his neighbors with whom he gradually develops true friendships. After the gang violence tragically affects his new-found friends, he seeks retribution in his final act. Continue Reading »

Take a look at the picture to your left. Do you know who that is? Yes, it’s Christian Bale, the actor who saved the Batman franchise. In the movie The Machinist, Christian Bale plays an extremely gaunt individual who has not slept in over a year.
In the beginning of The Machinist, we do not know why he has not slept in over a year; in the end, we do.
The question then is this: Is it worth the time finding out? Continue Reading »
