21: Movie Review

Published by Richard under Entertainment, Movies

The Movie 21 Is No BlackJack but It’s Not a Bad Hand

I was anxious to see the movie 21 as I had read the book Bringing Down the House, the book on which the movie is based.  However, aside from the idea of a bunch of MIT kids taking on Vegas, there are few similarities between the book and the movie. Continue Reading »

Renting a Car (and driving it) in Uruguay

Published by Richard under Living in Uruguay

Renting a car in Uruguay is a tremendous way to get around if you intend to see many places in a short amount of time.

If you are simply going to one place (like Punta Del Este) for several days, it is better to travel by bus.  Continue Reading »

One Thing a Woman Should Never Divulge

Published by Richard under Relatonships/Sex

If you are single, you may be able to relate to what I am about to say.  If you are married, it may be somewhat more foreign.

When you are a single man, you tend to do a lot of dating…or hopefully you do.  Dating is fun and exciting and sometimes you allow yourself to be open to many choices.

Without further ado, here she is!

The Timeless Ideas of Michel de Montaigne

In a university philosophy class , I was exposed to the essays of Michel de Montainge.  He wrote these essays some 400 years ago.  Their timeless nature amazes me.  For many situations in today’s world, there is a quote from these works that is applicable: Continue Reading »

Jitterbug Perfume, Tom Robbins

Jitterbug Perfume, Tom Robbins

This may be one of my Favorite Books of all time.  Tom Robbins combines profound and playful in perfect proportion.  Also, he teaches you how to live forever.  Two of the remedies are:  lots of sex and lots of baths.  Two things I love!  Continue Reading »

The Unbearable Lightness of Being

This is an outstanding book and a horrific movie, unless you like depressing European movies with little dialogue that slowly plod along.  If so, make sure you also see 4 Months, 3 Weeks, and 2 DaysContinue Reading »
