Funkilicious Fridays–Because a Sunset Without Music is Boring

Published by Richard under Funkilicious Fridays

This is the long awaited return of Funkilcious Fridays (subscribe to Funkilicious Fridays by email), those 5 videos each Friday morning that inspire you each weekend to be your best…or your worst.

Have you worked all week like a slave, laboring for the the man, to not live it up this weekend? Do me a favor. Be honest with your co-worker today. Liberate yourself.

At the water cooler this morning, when he/she asks you “what are your plans for the weekend?”, you know they don’t really care what you say. They are just making conversation. This morning, you need to respond: “I think I’ll probably get laid tonight and smoke a fatty with some friends. You?” This is the way to a better workplace and better weekend! Continue Reading »

Elin Nordegren: People Magazine Interview (19 Hours): What I Wish She Would Have Talked About

Published by Richard under Entertainment, Sports

Elin Nordegren People Magazine InterviewIf you can’t get enough of the Tiger Woods affair, read Elin Nordegren’s 19 hour interview with People Magazine online or pick up this issue of People which hits the newsstands Friday (order People here).

Frankly, I am surprised that she gave an interview.  I thought her purported $100 million settlement would preclude her from any types of interviews since Elin had signed a pre-nup that merited less than $20 million.  However, since the initial divorce settlement talk was in the neighborhood of  $700 million, I guess she figured I’m Talkin‘.

It appears that she does not dish on Tiger too much, which is why I would want to read the interview.  I want to know what happened that night he crashed the car.  As I speculated in the initial Tiger Woods Infidelity article, I think she saw a text and absolutely went ballistic, chased him out of the house, and bashed in a car window.  You go girl!

I also think she wanted to work it out thereafter.

You see, the first reported female was Rachel Uchitel.  Aside from having a weird last name, she was pretty hot and Elin probably did what most women do and ask the question:  Am I hotter than she is?  And the answer?  Elin probably concluded that it was too close too tell.

Then, another women comes into the picture, Jamie Grubbs. This is good for Elin because it trivializes the relationship with Tiger and Rachel Uchitel and lets Elin know she just has a semi-horn-dog husband who cheats, but that she is still number one.

Thus, she agrees to Tiger seeking sexual healing in the form of a legitimate doctor and thinks she may still give him a chance.  While Tiger is in therapy, mistresses number 3,4,5,6, and 7 (Kalika Moquin, Jamie Jungers, Mindy Lawton, Cori Rist, Holly Sampson respectively) surface. (See a slideshow Tiger’s Mistresses here.) Continue Reading »

The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo: Good End of Summer Reading

Published by Richard under Books

The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo ReviewI received the book The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson a few weeks ago (thanks sis!) and am about halfway through it. If you wonder, “why would I enjoy a book by a Swedish author that has a silly title?”, you’re not alone. I wondered the same thing.

There is one incontrovertible fact about Swedish people–they are all good looking (and some are now single and rich!). But do I really want to widdle away hours with a Swedish novel that contains no pictures of actual Swedish people?

At the halfway point, I would say most definitely “yes”.

I remember seeing these Stieg Larsson books on the bestseller lists early in the summer. At the time, his books occupied three of the top ten bestseller spots (it looks like they are still there) and they all had peculiar names that really didn’t make me want to read them.

Like, You Know

Published by Richard under Daily Dalliances

like you knowI am, like, sitting in the café, you know, next to two girls, who use “Like” and “You Know” every other word.

They are, like, surprised, you know, that they are unable to, like, get the job that they want…you know.

And, like, I just don’t understand it.  You know.

It’s like employers don’t understand brevity. Continue Reading »

Inception Review: Four Bad Movies For the Price of One!!!

Published by Richard under Entertainment, Movies

Inception ReviewIn this Inception Review, I’ll tell you why you can wait until video for this movie or not see it at all.

I was initially excited about Inception because I like almost all of the actors in it.  I enjoy nearly all of Leonardo DiCaprio movies.   We also have Joseph Gordon-Levitt of 500 Days of Summer fame, and Ellen Page, who played Juno, one of my favorite movies. Continue Reading »

The Book of Eli: Is Eli Blind?

is Eli Blind?I just noticed that the Book of Eli is number one on the latest list of DVD Movies New Releases.

I saw this movie in the theaters when it came out and remember a discussion that ensued afterward: Is Eli blind in the movie? After visiting the Book of Eli IMDB page, I realize that many people have this question.

As Schwatime points out in the IMDB post called Why the Ending Should Make You Blind With Rage, there is multiple evidence to support both sides. This pissed her/him (what gender is the name Schwatime?) off to the point where he/she concludes “This is a crappy film made by lazy filmmakers.” Continue Reading »

Funny People is Deadly Serious…And Funny Too

Published by Richard under Entertainment, Movies

Funny People ReviewLast night, I watched the movie Funny People with Adam Sandler and many other great young comedians.

20 years ago, you knew what to expect with an Adam Sandler movie; now you don’t.  I like that.

20 years ago, all was simply slapstick and often very funny.  Now, we still get slapstick but with serious, and sometimes slightly demented, undertones.  It is often said that great comedians and great comedy comes from the darkest of places where the only means of survival is through comedy.  In the recent career of Adam Sandler, he seems more comfortable exposing some of those dark places.

The seriousness in Funny People occurs immediately as the character of Adam Sandler, a famous comedian named George Simmons, is diagnosed with a deadly form of leukemia.  With this diagnosis, George suddenly realizes how pitifully lonely his rich life is. Continue Reading »

The 27 Year Old Virgin Man

virgin manI just accidentally stumbled upon a story of the 27 year old virgin man.

I noticed that a post that I had written about the sexual consent form was getting a lot of hits from a certain webpage and I decided to check it out.  The webpage was titled “I’m got tired of waiting until marriage so I started having sex at age 27.”

Obviously, one would assume, given the title of the page, that this was written by a girl.  But it wasn’t…a guy wrote it.

My first thought was really?   You exist?  The 40 Year Old Virgin was a movie my friend, not a call to action or a challenge of any kind. Continue Reading »
